Steps I have taken since egg inflation.

Since the price of eggs has soared, it has become a reality check that I took eggs for granted. Consequently, now where to find an equal protein nutrition source.

An egg provides approximately one ounce (oz) of protein.

One ounce (oz) of any protein equals 7 grams.

Calculating the grams of protein needed each day to meet the minimum needs.

Example:

  1. Current weight of 150 pounds.
  2. Divide 150 pounds by 2.2 to convert to 75 kilograms (kg).
  3. 75 kilograms (kg) times 0.8 to 1.0 grams to equal 65 to 75 grams of protein per day (minimum protein grams for this healthy person.)

Focusing on reading nutrition fact labels.

  • Detect hidden grams of protein found on the package labels and add them up over the day.
  • The number of grams of a protein refers to the serving size, not the entire container (unless specified).

Weekly grocery sales.

  • Check on all protein rich departments. (Red meat, chicken, pork, nuts, cheese, beans). Stock up when on sale…
